Lanie Lane first came to my attention with her track 'What Do I Do', which was used as the theme song for 'Crownies', an Aussie legal drama TV series. Once I found out who she was, she seemed to be popping up all over the place. I had to hear more, and YouTube did not disappoint, introducing me to more of her fabulous music. Then I had to buy her album, and gee, am I glad I did.
'To The Horses' is Lane's self-produced debut album, described on her website as, 'A collection of 11 songs that duck and weave through a heady mix of early
rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and rockabilly, serving up fantastic tales of
love, lust, heartbreak and the importance of a good guitar.'
My favourite track is '(Oh Well) That's What You Get (Falling in Love with a Cowboy)', which also has a sultry video clip. I also love the quiet beauty of the title track, 'To The Horses' and that fabulous bass line on 'What Do I Do'.
My advice? Watch this woman - she is only just getting started!
